2018 Solo & Group Show Opportunities - Crenson Gallery

Barrett Art Center offers opportunities for established and emerging artists to exhibit their work in their historic gallery setting. In 2018, BAC will host four solo or group shows in the Crenson Gallery, held in conjunction with exhibitions in the main galleries.

Eligible media include drawing, painting, pastel, printmaking, photography, sculpture, fiber, and mixed-media works. Proposals for both contemporary and traditional pieces are invited. Four proposals will be chosen to exhibit in the Crenson Gallery for shows in 2018. Submissions will be reviewed by Natalie Bell, Assistant Curator at the New Museum. Criteria for review include technical and artistic execution, a cohesive body of work or coherent theme, overall artistic merit, and gallery size and structural capacity.

Entry fee is $20 for BAC members and $30 for non-members. Artists must submit a minimum of three and maximum of ten images and complete a statement of purpose as a proposal. Notification of decisions will be sent on or about February 5, 2018. Selected artists are required to pay a gallery fee: April 7–28 ($150 members/$175 non-members), July 7–28 ($150 members/$175 non-members), August 11–September 24 ($200 members/$225 non-members), and December 1–21 ($150 members/$175 non-members). Artists may display works for sale; member artists receive 80% of sale price with BAC retaining 20% commission, while non-member artists receive 70% with BAC retaining 30% commission. Artists must install their own work. Setup occurs the week prior to show opening; take-down is the Monday and Tuesday following the closing. BAC is unable to store work before installation or after take-down; artists will be charged a $20 late fee per day. Works left more than 30 days after closing without prior approval become property of Barrett Art Center.
