2018 Sculpture Walk Peoria

Sculpture Walk Peoria is an annual, juried outdoor exhibition accepting submissions from local, regional, national, and international sculptors. This is the fourth annual event. Selected sculptures will be displayed in the Warehouse District, located in close proximity to the Peoria Riverfront Museum. The Warehouse District is on the National Register of Historic Places. Peoria is a city of 119,000 with a regional population of about 400,000, located 2½ hours from Chicago, 2½ hours from St. Louis, and 3 hours from Indianapolis.

All sculptures must be made of materials that can withstand outdoor weather and require no maintenance. Sculptures are owned by the artist and loaned to the exhibit from May 19, 2018 through September 30, 2018. Selected artists receive a $2,000 honorarium ($1,500 upon installation and $500 upon removal), plus an additional $1,000 People's Choice Award given to one artist in September 2018. Artists also receive free hotel accommodations for up to 2 nights and a concierge assigned to assist with logistics. All sculptures must be for sale, and Sculpture Walk Peoria receives a 20% commission on sales.

Submissions require an artist's resume, photos of a maximum of three sculptures (with up to three images each), and a brief description of each sculpture (500 words maximum). A $20 application fee applies. Submissions are evaluated on artistic merit, creativity, public safety, appropriateness, and durability. The jury consists of approximately 7 jurors with 4 having an art/art leadership background and approximately 3 having a business/community leadership background. Selected artists are responsible for delivering, installing, and removing their work. Sculptures must be installed between May 1-18, 2018 for the opening event on May 19, 2018. De-installation and removal must occur between October 1-31, 2018. Sculpture pad size is approximately 5 feet x 5 feet, with a limited number of larger sites available. Sculptures will be bolted to the concrete sidewalk.
