About This Call
UCR/Artists Council Exhibition: Third Annual Artistic Expressions of the Coachella Valley
This collaboration between the University of California, Riverside-Palm Desert Center and the Palm Springs Art Museum Artists Council presents one of the largest exhibitions of local, living artists in the Coachella Valley. The exhibition features Artists Council Members and UCR students in a large-scale art show designed to engage, educate and enlighten the community. This is a juried show with cash awards: $200 First Place, $150 Second Place, $75 Third Place, plus a $75 People's Choice award determined by public vote.
Artist Council Members may submit up to two pieces of work. Artwork must be original, completed after January 1, 2016, and not previously exhibited at UCR Palm Desert Center or Palm Springs Art Museum. Two and three dimensional artwork must be installation and show ready. Maximum size for 2D entries is 60" x 60" (35 pounds); 3D entries maximum 48" x 24" x 24" (150 pounds). Works on paper must be protected by glass or Plexiglass. All submitted works must be available for sale with pricing between $500 and $10,000; the museum retains a 30% commission on sales.
Entry fee is $25.00 for two entries. Artist Council and Palm Springs Art Museum membership must be valid at time of submission and throughout the exhibition. Artists will be notified of acceptance by February 9, 2018. Artwork delivery is February 26, 2018 between 10 am-2 pm to UCR Center, 75080 Frank Sinatra Drive, Palm Desert (shipped artwork not accepted). The exhibition runs March 1 through April 29, 2018. Opening reception is March 1, 2018, 5-7 pm. Unsold artwork must be picked up by April 30, 2018 between 10 am-2 pm. Educational lectures and art demonstrations will be held March 24 and April 21, 10 am-12 pm. Artists are responsible for their own insurance; the museum will not be held responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged property.
