About This Call
The Keller Public Arts Board is seeking six sculptures for a two-year rotating exhibition in the Old Town Keller West area. Sculptures are owned by the artist and loaned to the exhibit for the duration. All sculptures must be family-appropriate with no sexual, bloody, or violent content, and must pose no risk to public safety. Sculptures must be made of materials that can withstand harsh Texas weather and require no maintenance by the City of Keller.
Artwork specifications: Base must fit on 5'x5' concrete pads, maximum height of 12 feet, maximum weight of 2,500 pounds. Sculptures must be ready for installation no later than June 1, 2018. If a piece is sold while on display, the artist must replace it with a different sculpture (with Board approval) within 60 days.
Eligibility: Artists must reside in Texas and submit original works. Application requirements include a résumé, artist statement (maximum 1,000 words), and sculpture description (maximum 1,000 words) detailing title, media/materials, dimensions, weight, year completed, purchase price, installation requirements, and information on current and future copies. Applicants may submit 2-5 images.
Compensation: A $1,250 honorarium is awarded for each of six selected pieces, with half paid upon selection and half upon successful installation. One Best in Show winner receives an additional $500. The City of Keller may provide assistance with installation and removal. The Old Town Keller West area is located on the west side of U.S. Highway 377 near the city's border with Fort Worth. Questions should be directed to [email protected] or 817-743-4000.
