About This Call
This is a national juried visual art competition and exhibition open to any artist who is a resident of the United States and is over the age of 18, working in two-dimensional media. Eligible media include painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, and mixed media works with a maximum depth of five inches, as well as other traditional or non-traditional two-dimensional media, excluding film. All works entered must have been created within the last three years.
Artists may submit up to two works for a non-refundable entry fee of $35. Work samples must be submitted as JPEG images (1200 pixels or greater on the longest side, 5MB maximum) via CaFE. The juror is John Ros, Assistant Professor of Art at James Madison University and Director and Chief Curator of Duke Hall Gallery of Fine Art. Jury dates are August 16-26, with notification of acceptance via email on September 3, 2018. The exhibition runs October 5-27, 2018.
Awards total $2000 in cash and prizes, including Juror's Choice, Directors' Choice, and Audience Choice. All accepted works must be framed or otherwise ready to hang. Works on paper must be behind Plexiglas (not glass for shipped work) and professionally framed and wired to hang on a single nail. Works on canvas or wood must be framed or have gallery wrapped edges and be wired to hang on a single nail. Accepted works must arrive at the gallery between September 24-28.
