2018 National Alternative Processes Competition

The 2018 National Alternative Processes Competition is open to all photographers age 18 or older, excluding members of Soho Photo Gallery. Alternative processes include, but are not limited to: Albumen, Cyanotype, Van Dyke Brown, Platinum/Palladium, Gum Bichromate, Bromoil, Salt Print, Tintype, Ziatype, Daguerreotype, Image Transfers, Liquid Emulsion, Photogravure, and Chemigram, as well as handmade prints created from digital negatives. Traditional Silver Gelatin Prints, C-Prints, and Digital Prints are not eligible. There is no limitation as to subject matter.

Entrants must submit a minimum of 5 and maximum of 15 images. The entry fee is $45.00, with an additional $5.00 media fee for images beyond the initial submission. This year's juror is Dan Burkholder, known for his work in platinum/palladium printing and digital photography. His images are expressed as platinum/palladium prints enhanced with hand-applied gold leaf and other precious metals, combining twentieth century technology with nineteenth century printing processes.

Soho Photo Gallery shall receive a 30% commission for any sales. Work remaining in the gallery beyond 30 days after the closing of the show shall become the property of the gallery. Although reasonable efforts will be made to protect work while in the gallery's possession, the gallery is not legally responsible for it. Artists should consider insuring their work for the time it is in the gallery.
