2018 MBA Art Show

Montgomery Bell Academy is pleased to announce the MBA 2018 Art Show, a traditional gallery-style juried art show featuring approximately 60 local and regional artists. The show will feature world-renowned French muralist and graffiti artist Xavier Prou, known as Blek Le Rat, who will spend the week of the show on the MBA campus creating original works of art at various locations.

The gallery-style show runs from Thursday, November 8 through Sunday, November 18, 2018, in the Davis Arts Building on the MBA Campus. The opening reception on Thursday, November 8 (6-9 PM) is open to the public and features Blek Le Rat, live music, passed hors d'oeuvres, and complimentary wine and beer; artists' presence is required. The exhibit is open to the public again on Saturday, November 10 from 12 PM to 4 PM, with artists required to be present. Private MBA-sponsored events are planned for November 11-18. Proceeds from art show sales benefit MBA Mother's Club activities and the fine arts program.

Approximately 60 artists will be invited to participate. Most are local or regional artists, with the exception of MBA alumni. The majority work in oils, acrylics, watercolors, pen and ink, and mixed media; the show also includes digital art, photography, and sculpture. Each artist is allocated designated wall space in the gallery and can bring as many paintings as fit in that space. Wall spaces are assigned based on space considerations; special requests for location cannot be accommodated. MBA provides artist signage and artwork labels. Application deadline is October 8, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Entry fee is $25 (non-refundable). Submit 5-8 digital images of artwork, a short artist bio (no more than 5 sentences), and agree to a 70/30 split with the artist receiving 70% of sales. All works must be original and for sale. Invitations will be issued October 15, with a deadline to accept by October 22. Inventory submissions are due by October 30. Artist load-in is November 7 (4-8 PM); artist load-out is November 18 (4-6 PM).
