2018 DVAC Holiday Gift Gallery

The Dayton Visual Art Center's (DVAC) Holiday Gift Gallery is a fine art and fine craft professional gallery show and sale running from November 16 through December 22. The exhibition opens with a ticketed preview party, Holiday on Ice, on November 15, and includes targeted marketing during Black Friday (November 23), Small Business Saturday (November 24), and Cyber Monday (November 25). The show is presented in DVAC's downtown, loft-like contemporary gallery space with custom-designed modular wood and industrial hardware displays featuring direct and natural lighting. Up to 50 artists will be invited to participate.

Eligibility and Requirements: Any artist may participate; non-member exhibitors will be asked to become a DVAC Member by the opening of the show. Membership starts at $25 for students, $45 for individuals, and $75 for Family/Duo. Current DVAC Members receive a free application; non-members pay a $20 entry fee. Artists must be the maker, designer, creator, and producer of the work. Submissions should include 3-5 representative images. Jurors will rank submissions on level of craftsmanship, originality, and contemporariness. Limited multiples of ornaments and small items are encouraged but generally should not exceed 10 of the same item.

Awards and Sales: Up to five Invitational Artist Awards will be given to selected artists, who will be invited to return the following year with no jury process and no application fee. One artist will receive the Best of Show Award with the same benefits. Sales commission is 60:40 in the artist's favor. DVAC manages and processes all sales. Last year, 63 artists were selected with 950 works sold and gross sales of $41,000. The show is promoted through printed invites, posters, press releases to 45 regional media outlets, TV, radio, and online channels including a bi-weekly email blast to 3,200 subscribers and social media.
