About This Call

The 2018 Overland Park Art at the Center Cultural Diversity Exhibition seeks to showcase cultural diversity through art by welcoming work that positively showcases ethnicity, age, challenges both physical or cognitive, gender, language, and religion. The exhibition will run from August 3 through September 9, 2018, with an opening reception on Friday, August 3, 2018, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Entry fee is $10 for up to 4 images. Submissions may include 1-4 images, up to 1 audio file, and up to 1 video file. The entry deadline is June 24, 2018, with notification on June 29, 2018. Jurors are Friends of Overland Park Arts. Awards include Best of Show ($500), Second Place ($250), Third Place ($100), and four $25 Choice Awards.

Art at the Center is a not-for-profit gallery space offering local, regional, and national artists—both professional and amateur—an opportunity to showcase their work in the heart of Overland Park. All art is for sale unless otherwise noted. A 25% gallery commission and sales taxes apply. Accounts will be settled within 30 days of the exhibition's conclusion. Admission is free. The gallery is closed on Independence Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Framed art must weigh no more than 30 lbs. Hanging wire must be at least 100# weight. Strip framing and saw tooth hangers are forbidden. Stretched canvas may be unframed only if sides are painted (gallery wrap). Floor sculptures or pedestal works must be independently stable. Works that include video must either supply presentation equipment or be playable by a standard DVD player and television. Artwork must be received ready to display. If work is not collected within 45 days by the artist or designated representative and formal communication is unanswered, the art will be deemed abandoned and the City of Overland Park will handle it at its discretion.
