About This Call
Northglenn Arts is conducting an open entry competition to select six sculptures valued at no more than $25,000 each for the "Art on Parade" on-loan sculpture program. Selected pieces will be installed for one year at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park surrounding Webster Lake in Northglenn, Colorado, with placement beginning in late May 2018 and remaining on display until May 2019.
Each of the six finalists will receive a $750 honorarium. An additional $1,000 will be awarded to the recipient of the annual "People's Choice Award." Since the program's inception in 2001, the Northglenn Arts and Humanities Foundation has purchased each People's Choice winning sculpture, with the goal of acquiring permanent art for the City of Northglenn. All pieces must be for sale.
Submitted sculptures must be garden-sized or larger (at least three feet in one dimension) and completed before the submission deadline. Pieces must be ready for outdoor installation and capable of being welded to a 1/4" steel plate or mounted using a system with no less than 3/8" bolts (minimum three-point bolting system required). Durable outdoor mediums are acceptable; submissions must withstand outdoor elements and use. No hanging sculptures, wooden sculptures, or water features are permitted. Edition sizes over 25 will not be accepted.
Submit three images of one sculpture: two showing front and back, and one detail image showing scale. Multiple sculpture submissions are allowed; each requires a separate CaFE profile and registration. If submitting more than one sculpture, the highest scoring will be considered. The six sculptures chosen must represent six different artists. All works will be screened for artistic merit and appropriateness for outdoor display by a committee of local citizens, businesses, students, and NAHF members. Northglenn Arts will promote the art through local and regional media and develop a full-color brochure describing the sculptures. Contact Director Michael Stricker at (303) 450-8727 or [email protected] for additional information.
