About This Call
2018 Abstract Only! is an exhibition opportunity accepting abstract artwork submissions. Maximum of five entries per artist with a $17 non-refundable entry fee per artwork. A 10% early entry discount is available with coupon code abstract18, valid until June 29th. Videos are accepted with a $3 surcharge per video.
Juror Patrick O'Kiersey will select works based on heart and intelligence in the artwork. Artist notification occurs Monday, July 16. Accepted artwork must be dropped off at Wailoa Center on Saturday, July 28, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Off-island submissions must be received by Friday, July 27 and include a prepaid return label. The exhibition opens Friday, August 3 with a reception and awards ceremony from 5-7 p.m., and closes Thursday, August 30. Artists must pick up work Friday, August 31, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Monetary prizes will be awarded. Abstract Only! has applied for the State Foundation for Culture and Arts Acquisition Award Selection Committee to review the exhibit. Works should be for sale; HIAA will charge 20% commission on all sales.
