2018 10th Annual Grand Canyon Celebration of Art

The Grand Canyon Celebration of Art is an invitational and juried exhibition open to artists 18 years and older with plein air experience and experience painting the Grand Canyon. Applicants must include plein air experience in their résumé.

Submissions require a completed entry form, one-page résumé with contact information, three professional-quality JPEG images of plein air artwork (minimum 300 DPI, with at least one Grand Canyon image painted from the Rim), and a $40 non-refundable entry fee. Images must include the title, dimensions, medium, and price of each piece. The entry deadline is January 20, 2018. A panel of three to five jurors will select four to six artists who, together with returning and invited artists, will comprise the twenty-six participants. Notification of acceptance will be emailed by February 1, 2018.

Selected artists must submit a professional-quality electronic image of one studio piece by March 31, 2018 for the exhibition catalog (300 dpi when reproduced at 9 x 12 inches). Additional artwork must be completed on site at the Grand Canyon between September 8-15, 2018, featuring Grand Canyon National Park subject matter. Each participating artist must submit a minimum of five plein air paintings produced during the event. All works must be suitably framed and ready to hang. The event runs September 8-16, 2018, with an exhibition and sale continuing through January 14, 2019. Awards include People's Choice, Artists' Choice, Collectors' Choice, and Best of Show. The Grand Canyon Association retains a 50 percent commission on all sales. Artists are responsible for lodging, transportation, and return shipping costs for unsold artwork.
