About This Call
The City of Brighton Eye for Art Committee invites artists to submit sculptures for the 2017/2018 Art-on-Loan program at Carmichael Park (650 E Southern Street, Brighton, Colorado). Five sculptures will be selected for outdoor installation. This is an open theme call, with encouragement for military tributes and wildlife themes.
Submission Requirements: Artists may submit up to 8 separate sculptures. Each application represents one artwork with 1 to 5 images. Sculptures must be available for delivery and installation by October 20, 2017, and will remain on display until March 31, 2019. Minimum height is 3 feet. Maximum weight cannot exceed 1,000 pounds. Sculptures will be installed on black powder-coated steel pedestals (36" high and 36" square, or 12" high and 36" square upon request). Sculptures must be safe for public interaction, especially with children, and will be exposed to outdoor elements including harsh sun, high winds, temperature fluctuations, and moisture. Fragile, vulnerable, or inappropriate work will not be considered. Artists are responsible for transportation, installation, and de-installation, and must provide tools and equipment needed including extension cords. Installation and de-installation are coordinated with the City of Brighton Eye for Art Program and Parks Department between September 15 and October 20, 2017.
Compensation and Recognition: Selected artists receive a $500 honorarium per sculpture. The Eye for Art Committee retains a 20% commission on sculptures sold. A $1,000 cash award will be given to one artist chosen by Brighton citizens as "Brighton's Choice." Plaques will be provided listing the artist, materials, price, and contact information. The application deadline is September 3, 2017 at midnight MDT. Artists will be selected on September 8, 2017 and notified by the following week.
