About This Call
The Palm Springs Art Museum Artists Council and University of California, Riverside-Palm Desert Center present the second annual Artistic Expressions of the Coachella Valley, a large-scale exhibition of local, living artists. This curated but non-juried show is open to Artists Council members only, with membership required at time of submission and for the duration of the exhibition.
Artists may submit one original work created after January 1, 2015, for a non-refundable $20 entry fee. Submissions are digital through the CaFE system between January 1 and February 1, 2017. Artists must also submit a brief statement (no more than 250 words) describing their artwork, its inspiration, and unique characteristics. Artwork must be original, not created in a workshop or class, and not commercially manufactured or reproduced. Two and three-dimensional work must be installation and show-ready. Maximum size for 2D entries is 60" x 60"; for 3D entries, 48" x 24" x 24". Weight limit is 50 pounds. Works on paper must be protected by glass or Plexiglas. Artists will be notified of acceptance by February 15, 2017.
The exhibition runs March 2 through April 23, 2017, at the UCR Palm Desert Center, 75080 Frank Sinatra Drive, Palm Desert. An opening reception is scheduled for Thursday, March 2, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with educational lectures, art demonstrations, and activities throughout the exhibition period. All artwork must be available for sale and is subject to a 30% commission. Artists are responsible for delivery on February 27, 2017, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., and must pick up unsold work by Monday, April 24, between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Artists are responsible for their own insurance; the museum and UCR will not be held responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged property.
