2017 Solo Artist Jurying

The Art League seeks artists who have developed a strong, cohesive, and exciting body of work centered on a common idea or element for solo artist exhibits. The work should exhibit harmoniously together, yet each piece should be individual. The organization values beautifully executed work as well as innovative work that presents the artist's unique voice and engages the viewer intellectually, emotionally, and visually.

Applicants must be current members of The Art League and cannot have had a solo exhibit at the gallery in the last five years. If selected for a 2017 solo show, no more than 25% of the works displayed can have been shown within 50 miles of The Art League Gallery. The entry fee is $50. Applicants must submit 5 digital images (minimum 1920 pixels on the long side), a show proposal/vision statement, current artist statement, and resume in one PDF or Word document (blind jurying; do not include your name). Up to 5 video files may also be submitted. Work will be dropped off October 17-18 and juried in person on October 19 by three art professionals not affiliated with The Art League. Artists will be notified of acceptance at the time of pick up only. A synopsis of juror comments will be emailed within a few weeks.

Accepted artists will receive a contract and must pay an exhibition fee of $150 covering postage and reception costs. Show cards, lettering, and posters are additional costs generally ranging between $250 and $350, incurred by the artist. All work in the solo exhibit must be for sale; the gallery receives a 40% commission on works sold. The Gallery Director and Solo Artist Coordinator have curatorial discretion for all solo artist exhibits and work closely with selected artists.
