2017 Sculpture Walk Peoria

Sculpture Walk Peoria is an annual, juried, outdoor exhibition for local, regional, national, and international sculptors. The 2017 exhibition will feature approximately 17 sculptures installed in highly visible locations along Washington Street and Adams Street in Peoria's Warehouse District, between Liberty and Elm Street.

Sculptures must be made of materials that can withstand harsh Midwest weather and require no maintenance other than occasional washing. All sculptures are to be for sale, with the artist setting the price. Sculpture Walk Peoria will receive a 20% commission on any sales. Selected artists receive a $1,500 honorarium ($1,000 upon installation by June 2, 2017, and $500 upon removal in May 2018), up to $500 in mileage reimbursement, two hotel room nights, volunteers for installation assistance, and a "concierge" to help with logistics. An additional $2,500 People's Choice Award will be given to one artist in November 2017. Sculptures will be bolted to concrete sidewalks or limestone bases. A boom truck will be provided on June 1-2, 2017 for installation. Sculptures must be installed by June 2, 2017 for the opening at 10 AM on Saturday, June 3, 2017.

Submissions are evaluated on artistic merit, creativity, public safety, appropriateness, and durability. The jury consists of approximately 10 jurors with art/art leadership and business/community leadership backgrounds. Required materials include an artist's resume, photos of a maximum of three sculptures (with up to three images each), and a brief description of each sculpture (500 words maximum). One application per artist. The $20 application fee applies. Deadline for submissions is January 20, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Notification to finalists and alternates will be sent February 10, 2017, with final selections announced March 6, 2017.
