2017 National Juried Painting Exhibition

The University of Southern Mississippi Museum of Art invites artists to submit entries for the 2017 National Juried Painting Exhibition. This national juried exhibition is open to all US residents 18 years of age or older. Artists may submit original works created since May 2013 in any painting medium (oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, etc.), including all forms of representational and non-representational painting. The entry fee is $35 for up to four entries, with a deadline of July 1, 2017.

Entries must not exceed 72x72 inches and should weigh no more than 30 lbs. Works must be original, in good condition, and professionally presented with framing or gallery wrapping. Accepted works must be wired and ready for hanging with wires in good condition and substantial enough to hold the weight. No Giclée prints, reproductions, saw-tooth hangers, or breakable glass are accepted. Submissions should include 1-4 images and up to 6 videos (10 total samples maximum). The juror is Peter Van Dyck.

Awards: First Prize $500, Second Prize $300, Third Prize $200. Notification of acceptance will be sent by email on July 22, 2017. Works must be received August 14-18, 2017. The opening reception is August 31, 2017, with a juror lecture and awards reception on September 22, 2017. The exhibition closes September 29, 2017. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs and must include a prepaid return shipping label. The University of Southern Mississippi will provide insurance coverage for artworks while on campus; insurance during transit is the artist's responsibility.
