2017 National Alternative Processes Competition

The 2017 National Alternative Processes Competition is open to all photographers age 18 or older, excluding members of Soho Photo Gallery. Alternative processes include, but are not limited to: Albumen, Cyanotype, Van Dyke Brown, Platinum/Palladium, Gum Bichromate, Bromoil, Salt Print, Tintype, Ziatype, Daguerreotype, Image Transfers, Liquid Emulsion, Photogravure, and Chemigram, as well as handmade prints created from digital negatives. Traditional Silver Gelatin Prints, C-Prints, and Digital Prints are not eligible. There is no limitation as to subject matter.

Entrants must submit a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 15 images. The entry fee is $45.00, with an additional $5.00 media fee for images beyond the initial submission. The entry deadline is July 14, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.

This year's juror is Morgan Post, a Professor of Photography at Long Island and Fairfield Universities who serves on the advisory board of The Penumbra Foundation in New York. He teaches workshops across the eastern United States and embraces 19th century techniques and antiquarian processes in his own work. His work has been exhibited and published nationally and internationally, with recent exhibitions including Art Intersection, El Laboratorio in Granada Spain, Art Space New Haven, and Vermont Center for Photography.
