About This Call
The MBA Art Show is a fine art sale showcasing approximately 55 selected artists from the local community, including MBA alumni, families, friends, and local and regional artists. The gallery-style show runs from September 14-20, 2017, in the Davis Arts Building on the MBA Campus. The opening reception on Thursday, September 14 from 6-9 p.m. features live music, passed hors d'oeuvres, and a complimentary wine and beer bar, with artists required to be present. The show is also open to the public on Saturday, September 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Private MBA-sponsored events are scheduled for September 17-20. Proceeds benefit Mother's Club activities and the fine arts program at MBA.
Artists are allocated designated wall space in the gallery and may bring as many paintings as fit in their assigned space. Wall spaces are assigned based on space considerations and special location requests cannot be accommodated. The Davis Arts Building, renovated in 2015, provides a sophisticated, state-of-the-art gallery setting. MBA provides artist signage and artwork labels. Most exhibiting artists are local or regional, with the exception of MBA alumni.
Applications require a $20 non-refundable fee, a short artist bio (no more than 5 sentences), and five digital images of artwork. Images must be high resolution and represent the quality, average price points, average size, and style of work to be exhibited. Approximately 55 artists will be selected by a designated committee. Selected artists agree to a 70/30 split with MBA receiving 30% of sales. All works must be original and for sale. By September 1, exhibiting artists must provide an inventory list of all pieces including title, medium, dimensions, and price. Artist load-in is September 13 from 4-7 p.m.; load-out is September 21 from 4-6 p.m.
