2017 ManneqART Sculptural Arts Competition

ManneqART is a 5-year-old arts and education non-profit seeking 60+ new entries for the 2017 Annual Sculptural Artworks Competition. The competition focuses on wearable sculpture—artworks made from non-traditional materials that must fit through a normal doorway and stand up to being moved and worn by live models and dancers at public events.

The 2017 themes are Ocean, Eco, Energy, and Aviation. ManneqART is also collaborating with the Sandy Spring Museum on a parallel competition that will award an additional $2,000 prize for artwork reflecting the theme "Inner Light." Winning artworks are eligible to win up to $3,000 in prizes. Nearly $40,000 in prize money has been awarded since 2013 to students, professionals, and other artists.

Entry requirements include 3-6 hi-res jpg images of artwork in progress, full contact information, a narrative description including title and theme selection, and an artist statement explaining inspiration, materials, and suggested hair and makeup designs. Early bird entry fee (until March 31): Student $20, Non-Student $35. Regular entry fee (after March 31): Student $35, Non-Student $50. Artists may submit multiple artworks, with each requiring a separate application and registration fee. Application deadline is May 15, 2017. Artworks are due at ManneqART by June 1. The public unveiling of all competition entries on live models will occur in June, with a public display in September and an Awards Gala in October.
