About This Call
Soho Photo Gallery invites photographers to submit extraordinary photographs made with basic equipment. The competition seeks images created with lousy lenses, such as Holga, Diana, Ansco, and pinhole cameras. You may also create your own Krappy Kamera by using a non-Krappy camera (e.g., 4x5, SLR, DSLR) and exchanging the lens with a Krappy lens (e.g., pinhole body cap or Holga-type lens). Cell phones, disposables, and point and shoot cameras are ineligible. The lens is the determining factor—an old and moldy camera does not qualify as Krappy.
Submissions must include a minimum of 5 images and a maximum of 15 images. The entry fee is $45.00, with an additional $5.00 media fee for images beyond the initial submission. The competition is open to international photographers.
Winning photographs must be framed and wired for hanging. The maximum height or width (including frame) for exhibited work cannot exceed 48 inches. Photographs not suitably prepared will be excluded. Packing and delivery instructions will be mailed to winners. The juror is Russell Joslin, sole editor and publisher of SHOTS Magazine, an independent, reader-supported quarterly journal of fine art photography.
