About This Call
The Department of Visual and Performing Arts at Angelo State University invites applications from US Citizens for a three-week artist residency in Painting in the fall semester of 2017. The residency runs from August 21 – September 21.
The resident artist will install an exhibition of recent paintings in Gallery #193 on the ASU campus. During the residency term, the artist is expected to create new paintings using the department's studio facilities and interact with fine arts students in the classroom setting. The residency culminates with a public slide presentation and lecture delivered to the ASU community on September 21, 2017 at 3:30 PM, followed by the donation of one painting to the Art Program's permanent collection.
The Joseph Henry and Winona Edwards Family Trust provides a stipend of $4,500 to cover the cost of artist's materials, transportation, food, lodging, and incidentals. The resident artist must provide their own lodging and transportation to, from, and during residence in San Angelo. Applicants must submit a cover letter, current CV or resume including exhibition record, artist statement, and ten examples of recent paintings. Application deadline: May 12, 2017.
