2017 California Open Juried Exhibition

The 12th Annual 2017 California Open is a juried exhibition celebrating contemporary and modern art created by emerging artists. Hosted by TAG Gallery, an artist-owned gallery located at 5458 Wilshire Blvd in the Miracle Mile District near LACMA and the Craft and Folk Arts Museums, the exhibition features work in Computer Art, Drawing, Mixed Media, Painting, Print-making, Photography, and Sculpture. The gallery's new 5,400 sq. ft. space allows for larger artworks and more entries than previous years.

The exhibition is open to all artists 18 years and older. Work must be original, completed since 2011, and not previously shown at TAG Gallery. Entries are limited to six pieces maximum. Accepted work will be exhibited from August 9-26, 2017, and all work must be available for sale. The 2017 juror is artist Scott Canty. Awards include First Place ($1,000), Second Place ($500), Third Place ($250), and three Valerie Mendez Memorial Honorable Mention Awards.

Entry fee is $50 for the first three entries, with additional entries at $10 each. Work sample requirements: submit 3-6 images in JPEG format, minimum 1920 pixels on the longest side, 72 ppi/dpi resolution, maximum 5 MB file size. Size restrictions: hanging works limited to 60" height and 40" width including frame, not exceeding 30 lbs.; sculptures limited to 48" height x 20" depth, not exceeding 40 lbs. including base. All submissions must be made online at callforentry.org. TAG Gallery retains 50% commission on sales during the exhibition and 30 days after. Results will be communicated after July 14, 2017.
