2017 At The Walker Open Exhibition

The Walker Art Committee invites visual artists residing in the US to enter the 2017 At The Walker Open Exhibition. Juror Kim Casebeer will select up to 50 finalists to exhibit their work in the gallery space adjoining the Walker Art Collection, which features work by celebrated twentieth century artists.

Representational and conceptual work in the following categories will be accepted: 2D (all two dimensional media excluding photography), 3D (all three dimensional media), and Photography. Artists may submit up to 4 artworks for consideration. Accepted work must be no larger than 30 inches in any dimension. For 3D entries, the sum of combined measurements of height + width + depth should not exceed 50 inches total, with weight not exceeding 30 lbs. Digital images must be JPEG files, 1920 pixels on the shortest side, no larger than 3 MB in RGB or sRGB color space.

Over $3,000 in cash prizes will be awarded, including a Best of Show prize of $1,000, $300 for 1st Place in each category, $200 for 2nd Place in each category, and $150 for 3rd Place in each category, plus Honorable Mentions. The entry fee is $35 (non-refundable) for up to four artworks. Artists 18 years and older whose primary residence is in the United States may apply. Entries must be of the artist's original design and not a result of a class assignment. Notification of selected artists will occur on or before Friday, March 3rd, 2017. The exhibition runs April 3 - May 28, 2017, with an Artist's Reception and Critique on Saturday, April 8th, 2017, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Artwork delivery is March 20-24, 2017. Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance. Accepted artwork must be shipped installation-ready with all 2D work framed with wire hangers and only plexiglas framing accepted for shipped work.
