2017 Art for Awhile Sculpture Program

Broomfield, Colorado's Public Art Committee seeks artists to participate in the 2017 Art for Awhile Sculpture Project, an art on loan program that provides artists with public exposure and the opportunity to sell their work. Up to nine sculptures will be selected for installation at three landmark locations throughout the community: 1STBANK Center (three sculptures on the main promenade), Mamie Doud Eisenhower Public Library and Broomfield Auditorium (three sculptures on the west side lawn), and North Metro Fire Rescue District Headquarters (three sculptures in the sculpture garden at the northwest entrance).

Selected artists will receive a $1,000 honorarium for each sculpture on display from March 2017 through March 2018. The Public Art Committee will retain a 20% commission on sculptures sold to support the public art program. One artist will be awarded an additional $1,000 cash award chosen by the Broomfield community as "Broomfield's Choice." The artist is responsible for transportation, installation, and de-installation of their work. Installation must occur between March 1-10, 2017, with de-installation soon after March 1, 2018.

Submissions must include 2-8 images of outdoor sculptures. All sculptures must be available for delivery and installation by March 5, 2017, remain on display until March 1, 2018, be safe for public interaction including children, not exceed 1,000 pounds, and be a minimum of 3 feet tall. Sculptures will be installed outside and exposed to harsh sun, high winds, temperature fluctuations, and moisture. Fragile, vulnerable, or inappropriate work will not be considered. Application deadline is July 17, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Artists will be notified in late August or early September.
