2017 Appalachian Pastel Society National Exhibition

The 2017 Appalachian Pastel Society National Exhibition will be held October 19th to November 17th, 2017 at Jailhouse Gallery in Morganton, NC. The exhibition is juried by Dawn Emerson. Online entry deadline is midnight, July 16th, with acceptance notifications sent via email on August 8th.

Eligibility requirements include: 80% of exposed surface must be dry pastel (no oil pastels); maximum size 36" x 36" including frame; work must be entirely original and not copied from other artists or publications; must not have been created under supervision or previously exhibited in an APS National Exhibition; and must not be copied from published or others' photographs without permission. Entry fee is $35 for APS members or $40 for non-members, covering up to 3 entries. Up to 3 images may be submitted (up to 2 accepted per artist) in JPEG format at 72 dpi, minimum 1920 pixels on longest side, maximum 3 MB file size.

Awards include $1200 Best of Show plus additional cash and merchandise awards. All accepted paintings receive APS Special Membership points toward Signature Status. Artwork must be framed under glass or acrylic with white or off-white mats if used, and ready to hang with flat hooks and strong wire. Work must be for sale with prices set at submission and not changeable. The Burke Arts Council receives 30% commission on sales. Shipped work is due October 2nd to October 6th, with hand delivery available October 17th from 10am to 1pm. Opening reception is October 21st from 5pm to 7pm.
