2016 Yvonne Twining Humber Award

The Twining Humber Award for lifetime artistic achievement is an unrestricted award of $10,000 given annually to a Washington State woman visual artist, age 60 or over, who has dedicated 25 years or more to creating art. The award is made possible by a generous gift from the painter Yvonne Twining Humber (1907-2004), who established the grant through Artist Trust to recognize women artists who oftentimes must interrupt or postpone art-making in order to answer the demands of family life. The award recognizes creative excellence, professional accomplishment, and longstanding dedication to the visual arts.

Applicants must be women visual artists, 60 years of age or older by the application deadline of February 8, 2016, who have dedicated 25 years or more to creating art and are residents of Washington State. Eligible artists must be nominated; applications require a letter of nomination in addition to materials from the eligible artist. Any United States resident may nominate an eligible artist. Artist Trust encourages nominators to work together with their nominees to submit an application representing each nominee's career.

Applicants must be individual, working, generative artists. Applications made in the name of collectives, companies, large groups, or organizations will not be accepted. Matriculated students enrolled in any degree program through February 8, 2016 are ineligible. Work sample requirements: up to 25 images.
