About This Call
Traverse Higher Art Exhibition is a curated, gallery-style pop-up show and sale held July 29-30, 2016 at ECCO event space (121 E. Front Street, downtown Traverse City, Michigan). The exhibition runs 10am-6pm both days and is located one block from the Traverse City Film Festival, which attracts over 25,000 visitors to the area.
Artists pay a $145 space fee to display and sell as much work as they wish within their allocated space. The show is indoors with panels provided for 2D artwork and tables for flat surface displays. Artists may attend and represent themselves or ship their work and have professional representatives handle sales. Complimentary breakfast, coffee, and juices are provided both days. Two awards are available: The Peer Award ($100, voted by participating artists) and Best in Show.
Eligibility is national. Artists may submit up to 3 applications at $25 per application. Accepted artists must submit a one-page artist statement by June 1, 2016. Artwork submitted with the application is representative only and does not need to be in the show. Shipped artwork must arrive by July 15. Artists receive payment for sales by August 15. Media categories include ceramics, sculpture, painting, watercolor, drawing, mixed media (2D and 3D), digital art, photography, fiber, jewelry, and wood. All work must be original. Limited edition, signed and numbered prints are allowed in painting and drawing categories, but the bulk of work must be originals. Each artist may only display the medium in which they were accepted and must ensure submitted images represent their actual work produced within the last three years.
