About This Call

The Transparent Watercolor Society of America is accepting entries for its 40th National Exhibition. Over $20,000 in cash awards will be distributed. The exhibition will be held at Kenosha Public Museum, with paintings due April 16-22, opening May 7, and closing August 7. Notifications will be announced the first week of March.

Eligibility: Must be a resident of North America, 18 years or older, and a TWSA member. Entries must be original transparent watercolor paintings created after January 1, 2014, with no instructor supervision. Work must be applied in a transparent manner on single sheet 100% rag or cotton paper, free of pigment and embedded materials. Framed size cannot exceed 50 inches in either direction; minimum mat opening size is 8"x10". Unacceptable entries include those using white paint, gesso, acrylic, gouache, ink, pastel, metallic/iridescent paint, collage, surface constructions, embossing, varnishing, Yupo paper, digital images or enhancements, or work created prior to January 1, 2014.

Entry fee is $50 (includes 2016 membership and one image submission). A second image costs an additional $5 media fee. Life members enter free with coupon code TWSA4Life. Prepaid new and renewing members receive a coupon code at www.watercolors.org. Digital image files must be JPEG format, minimum 1920 pixels on longest side, 72 ppi/dpi resolution, and 5 MB maximum file size. Jurors are Frank Eber and Keiko Tanabe. The museum charges a 35% commission on paintings sold.
