About This Call
The 2016 Sculpture on 73rd Avenue Art-on-Loan Program invites sculptors to submit work for outdoor display. A $20 entry fee is required per application. Up to 3 works may be submitted with each application, with a total of 9 images allowed.
Sculptures should be garden-sized or larger (at least 3 feet in one dimension recommended) and valued at no more than $30,000. Editions over 50 will not be accepted. Acceptable mediums include metal, stone, ceramic, or any other durable material that will withstand outdoor elements. Fragile, dangerous, or inappropriate work will not be considered. All submitted photos must represent the current condition of the work. Sculptures must be for sale, and SWAG will collect a 20% commission on all sales.
Pieces must have the capacity to be welded to ¼" steel plate or bolted to a concrete pad for installation. The park contains seven steel pedestals and three concrete pads. Artists are responsible for delivery and pickup of their work at the conclusion of the one-year term, with shipping provided and paid for at the artist's own expense. Sculptures will be on display for approximately one year from the installation date of October 29, 2016. Artists will be notified 30 days prior to the removal date in 2017. Artists must certify that they have created and possess unencumbered title to the sculpture(s) being submitted and will allow SWAG and its affiliates to photograph and publish photos and information related to their artwork, with artist recognition given.
