About This Call

The 2016 Santa Fe Plein Air Festival is a juried competition open to all plein air artists worldwide working in two-dimensional media, excluding photography and digital art. Artists must submit 3 images of original works completed at least 80% en plein air within the past two years. Work done under the guidance of an instructor is not eligible. The entry fee is $45.00 (non-refundable) for 3 images, paid through CaFÉ at www.callforentry.org. Jury result notification will be emailed on March 20, 2016.

The festival runs June 3-July 4, 2016, with a Kick-Off Fiesta & Orientation on June 3rd, paint-outs June 4-7, and an opening reception on Thursday, June 9th at InArt Gallery (located at 219 Delgado St. on Canyon Road). The gallery show runs through July 4. Over $17,000.00 in cash and merchandise will be awarded, with 16 total awards presented for two judged events. Top awards include Best of Show ($2,000 cash plus merchandise), Second Place ($1,000 cash plus merchandise), and Third Place ($750 cash plus merchandise). Judges include Frank LaLumia for the Gallery Show and Albert Handell for the Enchanted Skies Award Event.

Accepted artists must become PAPNM members (annual fee $35.00) and pay a participation fee of $75.00 within 10 days of acceptance. A maximum of 2 works per artist may be submitted for award consideration. All work must be sturdily framed and ready to hang with D-rings and wire. Work dimensions including frame cannot exceed 24" in either length or width (artists exceeding this may hang only 1 work, not to exceed 32" wide by 48" high). All work must be for sale; artists receive 50% of sales price, InArt receives 40%, and PAPNM receives 10%. Payment to artists occurs within 30 days of exhibit close. An optional Frank LaLumia workshop, "TWO BIG IDEAS," is available June 10-13 for $475 (separate registration and fee, maximum 15 students).
