About This Call
The 2016 River Campus Summer Arts Festival at Southeast Missouri State University invites visual artists from Southeast Missouri or within a 200-mile radius of Cape Girardeau to apply for outdoor display space. The festival is dedicated to displaying works of professional visual arts, live performances, and educational experiences by combining the talents of artists, visual and performing arts students, and community members.
Work must show an identity of design and be made by hand. All work must be original work of the accepted artist; no artwork from molds, kits, or other commercial methods is allowed. Plagiarism, production line art, or factory-reproduced items are grounds for immediate removal from the show. The accepted artist must be present during the entirety of the show; proxy exhibitors are not allowed. Only one exhibitor's work may be displayed in each assigned space, though a two-person team producing a product may qualify as a single exhibitor if explained in detail on the application. Each exhibitor is responsible for collecting Missouri sales tax on all sales.
Display space is a 10'x10' outdoor area. Exhibitors must furnish their own display equipment, including a tent. Electricity is not available. The non-refundable application/jury fee is $35, due at time of application. This fee does not guarantee acceptance; an arts professionals' jury panel will select which displays will be included. If accepted, there are no additional fees. The festival takes place June 18, with artist check-in at 7:00 am, festival opening at 10:00 am, and art sales closing at 5:00 pm. Booth breakdown is 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm. Applicants will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance by June 3.
