2016 North Carolina Statewide Pastel Exhibition

The 2016 North Carolina Statewide Pastel Exhibition, titled "On Common Ground: From the Mountains to the Sea," is a juried exhibition hosted by the Appalachian Pastel Society in collaboration with the Pastel Society of North Carolina and the Piedmont Pastel Society. The exhibition will be held at the Hickory Museum of Art from May 21 to August 22, 2016, with juror Elizabeth Mowry, a Master Pastelist in the Pastel Society of America.

Eligibility requires membership in one of the three North Carolina pastel societies (membership is open to non-residents). Artwork must be 80% dry pastel (no oil pastels), completed within the last five years, and not previously exhibited in a North Carolina Statewide Exhibition. Size limitation is 60 inches in either direction including frame. Artists may submit up to 3 images; up to 2 paintings may be accepted per artist. The entry fee is $35 for up to three images, payable online or by check (postmark deadline March 18). Awards include $1000 Best of Show, 2nd and 3rd Place Cash Awards, and Art Supplies and Certificates.

Accepted work must be professionally framed under glass or acrylic and ready to hang. Delivery of accepted work is due May 9-16, with hand delivery available Monday, May 16, 10am-2pm. Hand pickup is Monday, August 22, 10am-3pm. The Hickory Museum receives a 30% commission from sales. Artists are responsible for shipping costs and insurance.
