2016 Juried Art Competition and Show

The Savage Arts Council is accepting online applications for its 2016 Juried Art Competition and Show from March 13th through May 21st, 2016. This juried show is open to all Minnesota amateur and professional artists 18 years and older. Each artist may submit one or two pieces of original artwork.

Entry fees are $18 for one entry or $30 for two entries. Artwork must be completed within the last three years, not done in a workshop or class, and appropriate for public family-friendly venues. Artwork will be displayed at six community locations: Savage Public Library, Savage City Hall, Cub Foods, Klein Bank, Dunn Bros, Cal's Market, and Cherrywood Pointe. The show opens to the public on June 8th, 2016. Artists will be notified of acceptance by May 28th, 2016. Accepted artwork must be dropped off June 2nd-3rd, 2016 from 3-7 pm at Cherrywood Pointe (5950 W. 130th Lane, Savage, MN 55378). An awards reception will be held June 5th, 2016 from 2-3 pm.

Artwork is organized into four categories: Abstractions, Man-Made World, Human Condition, and Natural World. Total prizes are $1,500, including Award of Excellence ($150 per category), Award of Merit ($100 per category), Honorable Mention ($25 per category), Best of Show ($175), and Community Choice Award ($125). 2D artwork must be matted and framed with maximum size of 36" x 36" or 72" total (height plus width). 3D artwork must fit through a standard 32" door with maximum height of 3 feet and can be displayed on floor, pedestal, or in showcase. Artists are responsible for delivering and insuring their artwork. Artwork pickup is July 7th-8th, 2016 from 3-7 pm at Savage Public Library.
