About This Call
The Jacksonville Center for the Arts, located in Floyd, VA, invites visual media artists to submit work for their annual juried exhibition. The center is a nonprofit community arts center housed in a renovated dairy barn with 7 acres of land featuring workshop studios, private art studios, and business incubators.
Eligibility: Open to artists 18 years of age or older. Work must be original and executed within the past two years. All fine arts and fine craft media are accepted, including painting, sculpture, graphics, ceramics, textiles, mixed media, photography, time-based/new media, and installation. Handicrafts are not eligible. Video, audio, and performing works are not accepted. Artists may submit up to three artworks. Entry fee is $40 ($35 for current members). Submitted digital images should represent the quality and nature of the work; artists must submit an image showing the artwork in its entirety, with optional secondary images showing detailed sections. For 3D works, up to three images per artwork may be submitted, with a maximum of nine total images.
Juror: Stefanie Fedor, Executive Director at the Visual Arts Center of Richmond. Exhibition dates: August 5 – October 1, 2016. Opening Reception: Saturday, August 13, 5-7pm. Prizes: $500 first place, $300 second place, $100 third place, five honorable mentions, and $50 post-exhibit people's choice award. Notifications will be sent no later than July 12, 2016. Shipped work must arrive between July 25-30, 2016. In-person drop-off available July 31 (1-3pm) and August 1 (10am-2pm). Work pickup: October 2-3, 2016.
