About This Call
Soho Photo Gallery invites photographers to submit extraordinary photographs made with basic equipment. The competition seeks images created with lousy lenses, such as Holga, Diana, Ansco, and pinhole cameras. You may also create your own Krappy Kamera by using a non-Krappy camera (e.g., 4x5, SLR, DSLR) and exchanging the lens with a Krappy Lens (e.g., pinhole body cap or Holga-type lens). Cell phones, disposables, and point-and-shoot cameras are ineligible. The lens is the determining factor—an old and moldy camera does not qualify as Krappy.
Submissions must include a minimum of 5 images and a maximum of 15 images. Maximum height or width (including frame) cannot exceed 48 inches. Winning photographs must be framed and wired for hanging. Photographs not suitably prepared will be excluded. Packing and delivery instructions will be emailed to winners.
Entry fee is $40.00, with an additional $5.00 media fee for images beyond the initial submission. The competition is open to international photographers. Juror Susan Burnstine is represented in galleries throughout the world, is widely published, and teaches workshops internationally. Burnstine writes for several photography magazines, including a monthly column for Black and White Photography (UK).
