2016 Courage Kenny Art of Possibilities Art Show & Sale

Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute invites artists with disabilities to submit artwork to participate in the 53rd annual Art of Possibilities Art Show & Sale. First created as a way to provide a forum for the creative talents of people with disabilities, the art show offers a unique opportunity for artists to showcase and sell their art as well as a way to promote all of the community based programs of Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute.

Eligibility: All artists with a disability causing physical or mental impairment which substantially limits one or more major daily life activities are eligible. Submissions are limited to two entries per artist. All art must be original work created within the past three years and must not exceed 36 inches in any one direction or 20 pounds in weight. No unfired clay sculptures or crafts are accepted. Art must be for sale at a fair market price not exceeding $2,000. Artwork must be framed with an attached wire hanging (minimum 6 inches wide) and must have an identification label attached to the back upper left hand corner or base with artist's full name, title, medium and sale price.

Art categories include: Graphic (printmaking, charcoal, ink, computer design, pastels, colored pencil), Mixed Media, Oils and Acrylics, Photography (color and black and white), Sculpture (relief, ceramics, woodcarving, metal, clay and stone), and Watercolor. The jury process occurs in two phases: Phase 1 reviews digital JPEG images to select artwork for Phase 2, an in-person jury of original framed art. Selected artwork may be shipped with a paid return label or hand-delivered to Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute (3915 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley MN 55422). All artists must submit an artist statement that may include information about their interest and experience with art, techniques, philosophy and personal connection to art, and should include information about the artist's disability. Awards include a $500 cash award for Best of Show, and first, second, third and honorable mention ribbons in all categories with cash awards of $250, $175, $125 and $100 respectively. Additional cash awards are given to selected artists by donors as Encouragement Awards. Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute will retain 25% of the selling price of artwork sold. Unsold shipped artwork will be returned in original packaging materials with paid return label. Hand-delivered artwork must be picked up on scheduled dates; artwork not picked up will be considered a donation to the permanent collection.
