2016 California Open Juried Exhibition

The 11th Annual 2016 California Open is a juried exhibition celebrating contemporary and modern art created by emerging artists. Hosted by TAG Gallery, an artist-owned gallery located at Bergamot Station Arts Center in Santa Monica, the exhibition features emerging and mid-career artists of Southern California. The 2016 juror is artist Kent Twitchell, an American muralist active in Los Angeles known for his larger-than-life mural portraits.

The exhibition is open to all artists 18 years and older working in Computer Art, Drawing, Mixed Media, Painting, Print-making, Photography, and Sculpture. Entries are limited to six pieces completed since 2010 and not previously shown at TAG Gallery. TAG artists are not eligible. No video, film, installations, or artwork requiring special assembly will be accepted. Accepted work will be exhibited at TAG Gallery from August 10-26, 2016, and all work must be available for sale. Entry fee is $50 for the first three entries, with additional entries at $10 each (maximum six entries). Work sample requirements: submit 3-6 images (JPEG format, minimum 1920 pixels on longest side, 72 ppi, maximum 5 MB).

Awards include First Place: $1,000; Second Place: $500; Third Place: $250; and three Valerie Mendez Memorial Honorable Mention Awards. Size restrictions: hanging works limited to 60" height and 36" width including frame, not exceeding 30 lbs; sculptures limited to 48" height x 20" depth, not exceeding 40 lbs including base. All work must be original, unsold, and professionally framed. TAG Gallery retains a 50% commission on sales during the exhibition and 30 days after. Results will be communicated after July 15, 2016, with accepted artists listed on www.taggallery.net.
