About This Call
The City and County of Broomfield Public Art Committee seeks to commission an artist or team of artists to create a public artwork for the new Health and Human Services Building, 3rd floor Family Services Waiting Area. The artwork will be installed at 100 Spader Way, Broomfield, Colorado. Installation is targeted for completion by October 31, 2016, with a total project budget of up to $10,000.
The Interior Family Services Area on the 3rd floor offers an opportunity to create a warm and inviting space for children and families facing difficult situations. The project could include tactile wall installations and/or other enhancements to soften this area. The wall space can accommodate an installation 5 feet tall and 20 feet in length and may not protrude more than 4 inches from the wall surface. The wall is normal construction with studs placed at 24" on center and two layers of drywall.
The project budget of up to $10,000 must be all-inclusive and cover design fees, travel expenses, all materials and fabrication costs, architect/engineering fees, shipping and transportation to the site, all costs related to installation, and commercial liability insurance. Any expense exceeding the contracted amount will be the artist's responsibility. Artists will be selected based on their proposal, past works, and experience. Proposals must include refined concepts, work plans, and a detailed budget. The finalist may be requested to give an in-person or virtual presentation to the Public Art Committee.
Submission requirements include: resume/CV, three professional references, a one to two page letter of interest outlining qualifications and relevant experience, a detailed proposal including drawings, budget and timeline, and media images of proposed artwork and prior works. All materials must be submitted online via CAFÉ. There is no application fee. The Request for Proposals is open to all professional artists residing and working in the United States. Colorado artists are encouraged to apply. The deadline to submit a complete RFP is May 10, 2016.
