2016 - Bring Us Your Dead: Day of the Dead Exhibition

Las Laguna Gallery is seeking works inspired by Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) for a themed exhibition. Dia de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico and around the world, an ancient ritual when the living commune with the dead. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember those who have died, with historical roots dating back more than 3,000 years to pre-Hispanic cultures of Meso-America.

Any and all works reflecting the theme of Dia de los Muertos will be considered. All local, national, and international artists—professional and amateur—working in multiple mediums are welcome, including photography, fabric, mixed media, new media, paintings (acrylic, oil, watercolor), drawings, ink, graphite, pastels, colored pencil, and fiber arts. Work must be able to be hung on a wall; no work requiring special installation or instructions will be accepted. Video, jewelry, and sculpture are not accepted at this time.

Entry Deadline: September 6, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Artist Notification: September 12, 2016. Opening Reception: Thursday, October 6 from 6:30-10 p.m. Show Dates: October 7-29, 2016.
