About This Call

The Bonnaroo Works Fund in partnership with Arts at the Airport seeks proposals for 5 artistic Bonnaroo-themed displays at the Nashville International Airport in Nashville, Tennessee. The displays will be suspended from the ceiling from March 14, 2016 to January 22, 2017, encompassing 5 skylights located in airport concourses on the secure side of the terminal. Each selected artist will receive an honorarium of $2,000 and 2 free tickets to Bonnaroo 2016.

Each artist will create a site-specific sculpture or kinetic mobile for one skylight. There are 5 skylights total: 1 on Concourse A, 1 on B, and 3 on C. The skylights have glass panels open to exposed sky with no UV protective glass installed. Weight limit is 300 lbs. per sculpture. Projects must incorporate iconic Bonnaroo festival elements (such as the Bonnaroo Arch, Fountain, Fire Tower with Cuckoo Clock, fan atmosphere, and infinity symbol—note the full Bonnaroo brand logo may not be included), display the 2015 location (Manchester, Tennessee), and reflect the Bonnaroovian Code: Prepare Thy Self, Play as a Team, Radiate Positivity, Respect The Farm, Don't be that Guy/Gal, and Stay True Roo. Projects may not include elements requiring electricity or maintenance after installation.

Applications must include: résumé (maximum 2 pages), one or two paragraph biography, 2-4 photo or video examples of previous work, 4-6 images of proposed exhibit (photos, CAD, drawings, etc.) with optional video or media (0-2 items), written site-specific proposal description (maximum 3 pages), and brief artist statement describing how project elements would be incorporated and connection to Bonnaroo. Dimensions, weight, installation method, and explanation of UV resistance for all materials must be included. Applications must be submitted electronically via callforentry.org. Each artist or organization may submit no more than two applications. Artists previously selected must wait one year before reapplying. Application deadline: November 1, 2015. Selected artists will be notified December 14, 2015. Installation occurs February 22–March 13, 2016. For questions, contact the Arts at the Airport Curator at (615) 275-1614.
