2016 Art Association of Jackson Hole Artist of the Year

The Art Association of Jackson Hole invites artists to submit work for the 2016 Artist of the Year competition. The theme is "WYOMING." Artists must reside in Wyoming or Teton County, Idaho, and be over 21 years old. The entry fee is $25.00.

Submit 7-9 digital images of representative work by May 23, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Finalists will be notified by May 27th and must submit original, ready-to-hang, 2-D square artwork (minimum 12"x12") by June 10th. Artwork will be judged on artistic excellence, appropriateness of theme, reducibility for a 3.5"x3.5" label format, and appearance through a Highwater Vodka bottle. The 1st Place winner receives a $2000 Grand Prize and will be named "2016 Art Association of Jackson Hole's Artist of the Year." The winning artwork will be reproduced on Jackson Hole Still Works Highwater Vodka labels for one year and displayed at the September 2016 Release Party. The artist will receive a 6-bottle case of the vodka featuring their art. Jackson Hole Still Works will donate the original artwork to the Art Association for a summer raffle, with proceeds supporting the organization's visual arts programming.

The Top 8 Finalists receive invitations to the June 17th Artist of the Year Announcement Party and the September Release Party, two tickets to Jackson Hole Art Fairs (July 8-10 and August 10-12, 2016), and a free bottle of Highwater Vodka with the new label. Runner-up finalists' work may be offered for sale at the June 17th party, with 70% of proceeds going to the artist and 30% to the Art Association. Unsold artwork must be picked up by June 29th or will be shipped at the artist's expense. Acceptable 2-D mediums include watercolor, oil, pastel, pencil, acrylic, collage, and multimedia. Artwork must be original, one-of-a-kind (no editions), and reproducible on a label. No trademark symbols, words, flags, military or governmental insignia are permitted. Metal frames will not be accepted for finalists' submissions.
