2015 Western Trappings on The Llano

Western Trappings on The Llano is a juried art exhibition and sale open to all artists 18 years and older. The exhibition seeks to exhibit a broad and diverse array of custom gear and original Western art, including both contemporary and traditional styles. Artwork showing Western lifestyles or landscapes of the Texas Hill Country are encouraged. Submissions of both three-dimensional and two-dimensional work are welcome, including Western trappings such as artistic functional pieces, silver work, jewelry, leather work, spurs, bits, and buckles.

Two-dimensional work cannot exceed 44 inches in its largest dimension including the frame. Three-dimensional work must be no more than 84 inches tall with no more than 20 square feet of footprint and a maximum weight of 200 pounds. All work must be original and for sale. Artists may submit up to 3 works of art per application. The entry fee is $25.00 for first-time artists and makers; artists accepted in 2013 or 2014 do not pay the jury fee but must submit photos for the jury process. Professional quality color images (up to 3) must be submitted in JPEG format, no larger than 3.0 MB, correctly oriented with no frame or mat visible.

Artists whose work is selected must donate one work of equal quality but lesser retail value to be sold at the live auction, or donate $200.00 to the organization. Signed and numbered prints are acceptable. The exhibition will be held at the Llano County Historical Museum from September 18 to November 15, 2015. A live auction will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall. The organization charges a 15% commission on exhibit sales and pays a 30% commission on sold auction items. Artists will receive notification of acceptance by email or mail between July 15 and August 1, 2015. Applications and images must be received by July 1, 2015.
