About This Call
Sculpture Walk Peoria is an annual, juried, outdoor exhibition accepting submissions from local, regional, national, and international sculptors. The exhibition will feature approximately 10 sculptures placed in highly visible locations along the newly renovated Washington Street in Peoria, Illinois, between Harrison and State Street in the Peoria Warehouse District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Selected artists will receive a $1,500 honorarium ($1,000 upon delivery and $500 at pickup), plus travel reimbursement of $0.50 per mile up to $250 total and free hotel accommodations for 2 nights during the delivery weekend. An additional $2,500 People's Choice Award will be given. Sculptures are loaned to the exhibit for one year with a possible negotiated one-year extension. ArtsPartners of Central Illinois receives a 20% commission on any sculptures sold during the exhibition. All sculptures must be made of materials that can withstand harsh Midwest weather, have a maximum age of 5 years and appear as new, and fit on sculpture pads approximately 5 feet x 5 feet (some larger). Artists must deliver and pick up their work on specified dates; early pickup is not permitted.
Submissions require a resume, photos of a maximum of three sculptures (three views each), and a brief description of each sculpture (500 words maximum). A $20 application fee applies. Submissions are critiqued on artistic merit, public safety, appropriateness, durability in outdoor conditions, and creativity. Delivery is scheduled for June 5, 2015, with installation and artist reception on June 6, 2015. De-installation and pickup is June 9, 2016.
