2015 Re-Thinking Ceramics

Umpqua Valley Arts Association presents Re-Thinking Ceramics, a regional juried art show open to Oregon ceramic artists. Artists may submit up to three entries in all themes, genres, types of clay, and firing methods; both functional and non-functional ceramic works are eligible. All work must be display-ready upon arrival and must have been completed within the last three years. Work must not have been previously exhibited at UVAA. Entries must be original works of art entirely created by the entrant, and no work will be accepted that violates copyright.

Entry fees are non-refundable: $30 for non-members and $25 for members, covering 1–3 artwork entries. Submissions must be postmarked by September 18, 2015. Artists will be notified of acceptance on Friday, September 25, 2015. Accepted artwork should be delivered to UVAA between October 20–26, 2015. The exhibition runs from October 30 – December 23, 2015, with an opening reception on Friday, October 30 from 5–7 p.m. Artwork pickup or shipping occurs January 4–5, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Juror Heidi Preuss Grew is a ceramic artist whose work is part of permanent collections throughout the world and has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Cash awards include $300 for 1st Place, $200 for 2nd Place, and $100 for 3rd Place. UVAA commission rates are 30% for members and 40% for non-members. UVAA will insure each accepted work for 60% of its value from arrival until release to the shipping agent. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs.
