2015 National Juried Competition - Works on Paper

The 17th annual National Juried Competition "Works on Paper" 2015 at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences welcomes entries of original work created within the last two years that explore varied media utilizing paper. The competition is open to artists 18 years and older residing in the USA only. Works on Paper can include drawing, painting on paper, hand-pulled prints, photographic prints, digital pieces displayed as prints, and paper constructions which may be wall hung.

Exhibition dates are July 3-24, 2015, with an opening reception and awards presentation on July 11, 5-7 pm. The juror is Carter E. Foster, Steven and Ann Ames Curator of Drawing at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Awards include $500 first prize, $250 second prize, $100 third prize, and two honorable mentions. The entry fee is $35.00 for up to 3 entries. Accepted entries will be notified by email by May 29, 2015, and posted on the LBIF website.

Two-dimensional works must not exceed 60 inches in width and 72 inches in height, and no more than 15 lbs. Work may not project beyond 18 inches in the third dimension. All work must be suitably framed, firmly wired, prepared for hanging, and professionally presented. All paper must be displayed framed and protected under acrylic (Plexiglass). Submitted work must be available for the duration of the exhibition. All works must be for sale, and the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences will retain a 40% commission of the purchase price on all works sold. Work must be received by June 23, 2015. Return shipping via USPS for accepted artworks will be provided by LBIF by August 30, 2015. Works will be insured for 60% of the artist's stated value for the duration of the exhibition.
