About This Call
The 2015 Michigan Fine Arts Competition is open to artists 18 and older living and working in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin. Original works in all media except video or giclée created and/or finished after January 1, 2014 are accepted, provided they have not been previously exhibited at the BBAC. Artists may submit up to two entries. For 2-D art, submit one image per entry; for 3-D art, submit up to two images per entry. The entry fee is $40 per entrant (non-refundable), payable by Visa or MasterCard only. Entries are juried online through CaFÉ at www.CallForEntry.org.
Accepted artwork must be gallery ready with sawtooth hangers and clip frames not accepted. All 2-D/wall-mounted work must be wired for hanging. Maximum artwork height is 9 feet (ceilings 10 feet). Accepted artists are responsible for delivering or shipping their work to the BBAC. Delivery is accepted June 11-13, 2015 (10am-4pm Thursday-Friday, Noon-4pm Saturday). Shipped work must arrive between June 8-12 and be shipped in reusable containers with photographic documentation. Contact Amy Kantgias at [email protected] in advance of shipment.
The exhibition runs June 19 - August 28, 2015, with an opening reception and awards presentation on June 19 at 6-8pm. A lecture by juror Joseph Winterhalter is scheduled for June 20 at 11am-Noon. Work must remain in the exhibit until closing and cannot be removed early. The BBAC retains a 45% commission on all sales. Artists are encouraged to submit work for sale at a fixed price with no changes permitted after acceptance. Work not picked up by August 29, 2015 at 4pm may incur late charges. The BBAC reserves the right to photograph exhibited work and use images for publicity, promotion, education, and grant proposals.
