About This Call
Miami Photo Salon is an International Photography Festival that takes place during Art Basel in Downtown Miami. The festival creates a salon-style venue for photographers to showcase work to international audiences, with foot traffic from visiting art fairs bringing thousands of visitors from the local community and international tourists. The second Miami Photo Salon will take place December 1-6, 2015, in the heart of Downtown Miami's art fair activity.
The contest is open to all photographers age 18 or older. Work must be original and created on or after January 1, 2010. Photographers may submit 1 to 25 images. Entry fees are $20 per photograph, or $45 for 3 photographs, with additional images at $20 each. Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable. Multiple entries and different bodies of work are allowed, as are collaborations. The theme is "Contemporary World: Singularity and contradictions," focusing on present-day society in the global village.
Images must be submitted online via CaFE by August 8, 2015 (midnight Rocky Mountain Time). File requirements: JPEG only, minimum 1920 pixels on the longest side, 72 ppi resolution, maximum 3 MB file size. Selection will be by jury, with photographers notified by September 15, 2015. Selected artists will be required to send high resolution copies of their work. Prizes and awards total over $5,000, including a solo exhibit April 15, 2016 at the Cuban American Phototheque Foundation, a People's Choice Award of $500, and a Best in Show Award of $2,500. Selected artists will be listed at the salon entrance, in the catalog, and on the event website. Photographs must be printed and framed to specific sizes (11" x 18" matted in 18" x 24" frame, or 16" x 20" matted in 20" x 24" frame). The festival offers printing and framing services for $75, though use of their provider is not mandatory.
