About This Call

The City Panorama project, launched in 2010 through a partnership between King County Metro and Photo Center NW (PCNW), seeks photographic artwork for installation on bus shelters throughout King County, Washington. The project aims to expand the public art scene in Seattle and other cities served by Metro, incorporate art into everyday life, and increase the visibility of the photographic arts. Over 350 photo murals have been installed since the project's launch, and it now enters its fifth year.

Submissions must be panoramic format images with a 4:1 frame ratio, minimum 1920px x 480px and under 3mb per image. Images should avoid large blocks of color or negative space to prevent graffiti, and themes and subjects must be appropriate for all age groups (PG13). Photographers may tile, collage, or stitch together images to create the final panoramic file. All images will be considered, with final selection made by Metro and PCNW jurors. If selected for installation, the final image file must be minimum 7066px x 1800px (final print size will be 95.25" x 23.5"). Each file must be titled with the photographer's name, image title, and year taken. Artists are encouraged to submit an artist's statement.

Entry fee is $20 for 5 images, with additional images available at $5 each up to 10 total. A minimum of 1 image must be submitted. Selected artists will be notified via email by PCNW staff with instructions for submitting final files. Artist names and image titles will appear on printed panels alongside PCNW, King County, and 4Culture logos. Selected images may be used for promotion by PCNW and in Metro publications. PCNW reserves the right to refuse accepted work perceived as inappropriate, vulgar, or discriminatory. The installation timeframe is dependent on King County Metro's schedule.
