About This Call
The Savage Arts Council presents a juried art competition open to all Minnesota amateur and professional artists. Each artist may submit one or two pieces of original artwork. Online applications are accepted from March 13th through May 21st, 2016. Entry fees are $18 for one piece or $30 for two pieces.
Artwork must be original, completed within the last three years, and appropriate for public family-friendly venues. Copies of other artists' work or published photos are not accepted. Artwork must not have been previously entered in a Savage Arts Council competition. 2D artwork must be framed with sturdy frames and hanging wire, with a maximum size of 36" by 36" or 72" total (height plus width). 3D artwork must fit through a standard 32" door with a maximum height of 3 feet and can be displayed on the floor, pedestal, or in a showcase. Artists are required to bring their own pedestal or display system unless the artwork is smaller than 14" x 14".
Accepted artists will be notified by email on May 28th, 2016. Artwork drop-off is June 2nd and 3rd, 2016 from 3-7 pm at CherryPointe Senior Living Facility in Savage. The awards reception is Sunday, June 5th, 2-3 pm. The show opens to the public on Wednesday, June 8th, 2016 at six community locations: Savage Public Library, Savage City Hall, Cub Foods, Klein Bank, Dunn Bros, Cal's Market, and Cherrywood Pointe. Artwork pick-up is July 7th and 8th, 2016 from 3-7 pm at Savage Public Library. A late fee of $10 per day will be charged for artwork not picked up during the designated time.
Total prizes are $1,500, including Award of Excellence ($150 per category), Award of Merit ($100 per category), Honorable Mention ($25 per category), Best of Show ($175), and Community Choice Award ($125). Artwork is categorized by topic/content: Abstractions, Man-Made World, Human Condition, and Natural World. All application fees are nonrefundable.
